Late on the fifty shades of grey uptake.

Despite it outselling Harry Potter and receiving huge amounts of praise for liberating women who enjoy reading on the tube, I am half way through this book and am so far failing to appreciate what it has to offer. Firstly, I am confused by what message Mrs James is attempting to give to the apparently huge numbers of deprived female souls around the world. The main character is becoming more confident because of a man whom she is submissive to. I'm not one for feminism but I don't particularly feel that this is doing much sisterhood. Secondly, I feel the author is channeling her own perhaps younger awkward self which makes me feel uncomfortable for the sake of her husband who the book is dedicated to at the beginning. Who am I to judge though perhaps she has installed a red room underneath her house and will be appearing on Grand Designs shortly as Kevin McCloud quakes in his work boots. Thirdly, whilst I do recognise how gloriously emancipated women who read this book on public transport now are, my friend was sat next to someone the other day who had covered the book cover in wrapping paper. If everyone's so incredibly desperate to read about boring Anastacia's escapades, as she suddenly becomes exciting because she is dominated by a man with mummy issues then why they don't just watch porn, instead of having to grit their teeth through what is largely a poorly written drivel ridden book. One which only gets exciting when the author lives vicariously through a parallel unborn version of herself.

GOP

grand old party - sounds like fun. Concern that majority of population don't know what it stands for. Similar situation to Tea Party controversy, which considering America has very little history to learn about anyway is worriying. Rick Santorum has 7 children so he has lots of heirs, which for those who like continuity could be a good thing, could have a Bush-Bush style re run. However both him and Mitt Romney need 40% of the Hispanic vote to get into the white house, however as the CNN website states neither candidate bothered to visit the Latino rich towns in Iowa, I admire their ambivalence shows confidence *cough* dellusion. Perhaps their aids had simply forgotten to point out that there are Latino people beyond the northern borders of New Mexico, easy assumption to make...

Also has it not occurred to the republicans that OIW could also stand for Obama is working?

Interested to see how putting forward unelectable candidates works out for the republicans. Disappointed that this year there may be no teenage daughter pregnant scandal, so the election may not be working it's way into the pages of Heat so it's doubtful i'll be reading much more about it. Mitt Romney is now the shining republican beacon. He is different to all other candidates ever, he has a controversial new idea to create more jobs and be optimistic. The super successful and flamboyant ray of sunshine from last time, John Mccain fully supports Mitt, so he's got some real wind behind him. O.I.W is really taking off as a slogan as well, probably because it's so witty, the acronym stans for 'Obama isn't working.' You can donate to the cause on the website, which is paid for by dear Mitt, i'm lost as to whether the money goes back to Mitt, or to Obama, to encourage him to start working again?

Liscence

Brand new drivers licence, super excited to buy over 18 things without worrying I won't be able to leave the country for 2 months.
By this I mean i've been using my passport drunk, notorious.

Hacking

Rupert Murdoch has joined twitter, super super excited to follow him, don't even mind if he upsets my follower/following balance. If he hacks my laptop i'll know i'm bigtime, something to aim for.

Typewriting for D*****N

Find a partner.
Pin them down.
Trap their arms under your knees.
Tickle them in a typing motion.
Then slap them.
They should still be laughing.
Continue until justice has been done.

This sounds like the thing really incesty siblings do, so only try it with your friends.
I didn't make this up.

China's in 3D

3D Tv in china. Shame most of their channels are censored.

IN THE NEWS - New Year 2012, election, obama, Iran

Iran test fired long range missile.
Two more states now allowing same sex unions - http://edition.cnn.com/2012/01/01/us/civil-unions/index.html?hpt=us_t4; 2012 the year of the next election in the U.S.A, republicans need to find a candidate that isn't clinically insane. I admire how ingenuitive they are though, such left-field bonkers thinkers for such a right wing party. Disappointed by America's overall reaction to Obama's attempt to put a slight welfare spin on healthcare, maybe if someone could convince the right that it was their idea in the first place and that Abraham Lincoln, the first republican president of the United Staes had always fancied introducing an NHS but was just too busy with the civil war. However, for Obama's sake, and for that matter America's I hope the Republican's final running candidate will end up in an asylum by October.

Ukraine

Quite fancy heading

'July: Ukraine

Discover Ukraine's coastline this summer. Photograph: Alamy
Europe's football championships finish with fireworks in Kiev on 1 July, leaving the rest of the summer to discover Europe's largest country. Apart from the big-city delights of the capital there's Lviv, a central European stunner that's been turning heads for a few years, and all the fun of the seaside in the Crimea. Ukraine remains an inexpensive destination – especially away from Kiev – but book ahead if you want to be by the coast in the high summer.
• Ukraine Travel (ukraine.co.uk), specialists in the country, offers direct flights to Kiev from Manchester for £225 including taxes, and can also help with rail tickets and hotels'
